McDonald Douglas was formed in 1967 with the merger of the Douglas Aircraft Company, which dates back to 1920 and the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation, that was started in 1938. McDonnell Douglas was a major American Aerospace Manufacturer and defense contractor, producing a number of famous commercial and military aircraft. It merged with Boeing in 1997 to form The Boeing Company.
